Office Assistant 2, Calculations SUNY College of Optometry – 2.9 New York, NY Job Details Full-time $42,641 – $46,641 a year 8 hours ago Qualifications 1 year CompTIA Security+ Entry level Full Job Description The University Eye Center (UEC) of the State University of New York College, an Article 28 Diagnostic and Treatment Center, is seeking an Office Assistant 2 (Calculations). The successful candidate must be organized, detail-oriented and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Manager of Patient Financial Service, the Office Assistant 2 (Calculations) will be responsible for providing outstanding customer service, compliance with all applicable policies/procedures/regulations, and performing related patient accounts and front-end billing procedures in an accurate and timely manner. Duties include but not limited to: Complete patient check-in and checkout processVerify and update patient insurance/demographic information and scanning of insurance cardsObtain referral and scan to patient’s chartObtain authorizations, as neededObtain and post time of service payment and issue receipt for payment madeIssue MetroCards to patients eligible for reimbursement, as requestedEnsure that all payments received (checks, cash, and credit card) balance with the daily transaction sheet and receipts dailyRespond to telephone and email inquiries in a timely fashion and contact patients for follow-up on their accountsSet up and review payment arrangements and/or budget plan with patientsReview and code the patient list in a timely fashionReconcile unapplied creditsEnsure that the MetroCard log is reconciled dailyEnsure there is adequate change on the floor upon the start of the shiftData entry of charges in a timely and accurate mannerReview and work the task worklog in a consistent and timely manner

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the

NY HELPS

Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. Non-competitive (NY HELPS): One year of experience where most work time is spent performing mathematical operations, and/or clerical activities related to mathematical operations OR Competitive (NON-NY HELPS):

Transfer Eligibility Requirement:

You must have a current permanent appointment with a minimum of 1 year of service in a position of the same title or transferable title.

Reassignment Requirement:

You must hold the same title at SUNY Optometry.

Reinstatement Requirement:

You must be a former state employee to request reinstatement to the title that was held (or transferable title). T his position requires the following schedule: Monday-Thursday 12:30 pm-8:30 pm and Saturday 8:30am-4:30pm. Off on

Friday and Sunday Salary:

$46,641 (including $4,000 location pay).
