They are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of title information, resolving title issues, and coordinating with various parties to facilitate smooth and legally sound property transfers. Attention to detail and knowledge of title procedures will be essential in the successful completion of real estate transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

•Conduct thorough examinations of property titles to identify any defects, liens, encumbrances, or other issues that could affect insurability. •Recognize title defects and seek advice as to insurability, when necessary.

Document Review:

•Complete and review Title Commitments and Title Policies. •Analyze legal documents such as deeds, mortgages, surveys, and easements to ensure they are accurate, complete, and in compliance with applicable laws.

Risk Assessment:

•Evaluate the level of risk associated with insuring a particular title. This includes assessing the likelihood of future claims and potential losses.

Underwriting Decision:

•Make informed decisions on whether to issue title insurance policies based on the findings from the title examination and risk assessment.

Collaboration:

•Work closely with other professionals in the real estate industry, including real estate agents, lenders, attorneys, and escrow officers, to gather information and resolve any title-related issues.

Customer Communication:

•Communicate with clients and stakeholders to explain underwriting decisions, answer inquiries, and provide information about the insurability of a title.

Problem Solving:

•Identify and resolve complex title issues that may arise during the underwriting process, employing problem-solving skills and legal knowledge.

Policy Issuance:

•Prepare and issue title insurance policies (with proper endorsements and insured closing letters, etc.), ensuring accuracy and adherence to underwriting guidelines.

Compliance:

•Stay up to date with relevant laws and regulations governing real estate transactions and title insurance. •Ensure that all underwriting decisions comply with legal requirements.

Quality Control:

Implement quality control measures to maintain accuracy in title examinations and underwriting decisions. Review the work of other team members if applicable.

Qualifications:
Industry Knowledge:

A solid understanding of real estate, mortgage lending, and property law is crucial. Title underwriters need to be familiar with legal concepts related to property ownership, deeds, liens, and other relevant matters. Must have thorough understanding and knowledge of underwriting principals.

Experience:
