Recruitment Salary:

Selected candidate’s salary will be determined within this range based on qualifications, equity, and funding at the time of hire.)This position is located a t 4401 Zoo ParkwayAsheboro, NC 27205 We are seeking a skilled Arborist to join our team, responsible for the care and maintenance of trees and landscapes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of tree biology, landscape maintenance, and safety practices. This role involves working with various tools and equipment, including bucket trucks and rigs, to ensure the health and aesthetics of trees in both residential and commercial settings. Responsibilities Perform tree trimming and pruning to promote healthy growth and enhance the appearance of trees. Conduct assessments of tree health and identify any potential hazards or diseases. Operate bucket trucks and other equipment safely to access high branches for maintenance tasks. Implement landscape maintenance practices, including lawn care and garden upkeep. Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for mapping and managing tree inventories. Collaborate with clients to provide recommendations for tree care and landscape improvements. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good condition. Adhere to safety protocols while performing all tasks to minimize risks on-site. Requirements Must pass Pre-Employment Physical Assessment Must be able to climb trees using tree climbing harness and ropes. Experience organizing and planning projects, reading landscape plans and utility maps, and identifying tree species. Knowledge of tree trimming techniques, plant biology, and pest management. Familiarity with operating rigs, bucket trucks, and other landscaping equipment. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining physical stamina. Experience with computers for research, data entry and/or record keeping. Position is considered “Essential/Mandatory Staff” and required to work on adverse weather days and during zoo emergencies. Must meet DNCR Fleet Safety Guidelines and have ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
