Job Description

This is NOT a full time job, it is an Independent Contractor job, schedule is highly variable and flexible, there is no minimum hours and the maximum per week is 40The Ideal candidate will be reliable (Be there when expected, complete the job as instructed), have own transportation and be comfortable on the water, on and around boats in fair weather and able to work with Marine Life

AQUARIST JOB

DESCRIPTIONThe individual in this position attends aquatic life, prepares food, and feeds according to schedule, cleans and upkeeps tanks, maintains equipment and life support systems, monitors water quality and helps with the pack-out sessions. The aquarist will also be involved in the collection of specimens using snorkeling and Scuba gear; Scuba diving certification is required.

Essential Responsibilities:

Maintain all tanks in the Lab. This includes routine tank cleaning, water quality testing, water changes, etc.

Operate equipment and LSS including pumps, filters, chillers/heaters and blowers and perform scheduled maintenance of utensils, tools, equipment and facilities.

Perform repairs to equipment and facilities or help build new systems as determined by management.

Monitor critters for detection and treatment of diseases.

Prepare food and feed the critters.

Help in the packing and shipping of corals, plants, fishes, and invertebrates.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Assist with the collection of specimens using hand nets, buckets or other materials and Snorkeling or Scuba gear.

Assist with the maintenance of the collection materials, boat, trailer, vehicles, greenhouse, storage area, buildings and yard and related facilities.

Maintain stock of pre-made packing materials (double bags, towel paper) used for shipment of specimens.

Assist with the maintenance of social media outlets and virtual sales portals, taking pictures and videos to upload and post and creating content.

Qualifications and RequirementsBachelors degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.

Animal husbandry skills required.

Ability to update and maintain aquaria pumps, filters, and basic plumbing skillsAbility to handle the physical demands of the job.

Ability to work weekends and extended hours.
