Natural Resource Conservationist Position Available In Pamlico, North Carolina

POSITION

• Will carry out several coordinated soil and water conservation programs
• Is responsible for scheduling time to provide technical services needed to address a wide variety of environmental and natural resource related issues to the residents of Pamlico County
• Work is performed under the general supervision of the Pamlico County SWCD Board of Supervisors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the practices and principles of natural resource conservation and management
• Knowledge of the normal to complex practices and principles of bench level surveys and note keeping, including photography by camera and by drone for the purpose of record keeping
• Skill in the use of surveying and computer equipment
• Ability to recognize soil types and to determine its capabilities or limitations for various uses
• Ability to interpret land uses and features on a variety of aerial photographs and maps.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Graduation from a four year college or university in a Natural Resources field with one year of field experience
• or graduation from a two year college or university in a natural resources related field and three years of directly related experience to agriculture and/or the conservation of natural resources
• or graduation from high school and five years of experience in a field related to agriculture and/or the conservation of natural resources
• or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
