Job Description
Join the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club (SMHC) for a work trip in a beautiful part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Saturday, July 12 from 8:45 am to 4 pm . All are welcome to join – no experience needed! Volunteers will help repair the Trail near the Icewater Springs Shelter area in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We will be building log box step structures over extremely eroded rock and rooty areas. This work will keep the Trail in great shape for years to come and make it a better experience for all hikers! New to trail work? Come learn some new skills! It is a moderate 3-mile hike to the work site. Participants will need to wear sturdy footwear and weather appropriate attire (weather can change quickly, so bring layers and a rain jacket). Bring work gloves, safety glasses (if you have them), lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. Tools will be provided. If you have favorite tools you prefer to use, please bring those as well.
