Job Description

Requirements:

Three months of agricultural work experience required. Walk,sit, stand on concrete or other surfaces, push and pull, stoop andcrouch for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive hand and fingermovements. Work outside in inclement weather including hot, cold, wet,and/or humid conditions for extensive periods of time. Lift, carry, andload up to 50 lbs. Employer is a drug-free workplace. Drug and alcohol testingis conducted post-offer at the employers expense and is not part of theinterview process. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Job Description:

Cultivate, cut, and transplant vegetable, flower andherb seedlings and cuttings within a seedling line; Plant, spray,weed, and water plants using hand tools and gardening tools; Prepare soiland growth media; Feel plants’ leaves and note coloring to detect presenceof insects or disease; Inspect plants and bud ties to assess quality;Operate tractors and machinery to fertilize, cultivate and/or spray;Apply pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers; Haul and spread fill-sand tomaintain greenhouse floors, using wheelbarrows or carts and shovels; Tagtrays; assemble trays, pots and caged pots; Push and pull 100 – 460 lbrolling carts; Lay down and pick up seed flats for delivery or transplant toanother greenhouse; Load and unload racks; Loading plants from thegreenhouse onto the racks/carts and delivering to the staging/loadingarea; Helping unload plants at the greenhouse, that do not meet thequality specifications; Fold and staple corrugated forms to make boxes usedfor packing horticultural products; Maintain and repair nurserybuildings/greenhouses; Clean work areas, sanitize, and maintaingrounds, greenhouses, warehouse, and landscaping; Perform nurserysanitation duties including picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms andsweeping floors. Additional duties may include collecting, confirming,packing, and labeling plant orders and varieties to ensure accuracy. Work ina standing, fast-paced assembly line for long periods of time during peakseason; Workers who possess a valid driver’s license and meet allapplicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor’s certificate asrequired by 29 CFR 500.105, may be asked to drive vehicles fortransporting wis voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without avalid driver’s license or doctor’s certificate will still be fullyeligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other jobresponsibilities outlined in this application. Workers who complete anemployer paid safety certification may ride to deliver, load and unloadproducts at market locations within a 180-mile radius from work location.

Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than thestated daily hours and/or on a workers Sabbath or federal holiday.

Additional hours are voluntary. Worker must report to work at designated timeand place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather,sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer willnotify workers of any change to start time. Workers should expect occasionalperiods of little or no work because of weather, crop or other conditionsbeyond the employer’s control. These periods can occur anytime throughoutthe season. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day anddifferent tasks on different days.

Anticipated Hours of work per week: 46 hours weekly.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday (8 hours), Saturday (6 hours). 8AM – 5PM.

Pay:

$15.55 hourly. Paid weekly.•Effective 1/1/24, overtime must be paid after 48 hours worked perweek, or 56 hours worked per week for up to 22 “peak weeks” for highlyseasonal employers, after 54 hours worked per week for non-highly seasonalemployers, and after 56 hours worked per week for small employers.
