COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Prestonrose’s name is a melding of our own name and the Rose family who settled the land we live on back in the 1940s. We came to this beautiful little holler in 2013 and knew it was home. We immediately started farming and obtained our usda organic certification. Soon after, we began plans for our on farm craft brewery and restaurant….which became a reality in 2016. We have continued to produce hundreds of pounds heirloom tomatoes, peppers, peas, berries, figs, grapes and more. We have a small hop yard that produces enough for 1 or 2 estate hopped beers a year. We are searching for someone who wants to farm, process crops for use at our restaurant, and be the main person caring for the farm under our direction and management.
JOB DESCRIPTION
One very valuable benefit of this job is the availability on on farm housing. We have a tiny home on the property and room and board can be negotiated as part of your compensation. Job entails primary caretaking of our certified organic farm. You’ll learn and adhere to all usda requirements for organic production, keep records, and maintain schedules for weeding, watering, planting, harvesting, processing and storage of crops. You’ll learn freezing, canning dehydration, vacuum sealing and other storage techniques. You’ll manage our stocks of stored crops. You’ll keep production records for accounting.
Important:
This is a very physical job and requires the ability to lift heavy objects 50 pounds or more, stand, bend, squat or sit for extended periods and withstand Arkansas heat while working. Breaks, hydration, food, cooled indoor space all provided. Opportunities to learn additional trades available…study under our chef/brewer, learn a whole world of skills. A beautiful way to deepen your culinary skills by gaining a true farm to fork experience…or enhance your agricultural skills by gaining a new perspective on growing food for culinary use.
