Interested applicants should report to any State Workforce Agency (SWA) career center for help in contacting the employer. Referral by a career center provides program guarantees and protections that may not be available to a worker not referred. Workers must have valid identification for I-9 preparation when they report to the employer location to begin work. The employer may use the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services E-Verify Program to verify employment eligibility. C. Workers referred to this job by a SWA should report to a career center between 5 and 9 work days before the job start date to verify the job start date is the same. Failure to do so may disqualify the worker from the assurances of this Job Order. Worksites are located in Gilchrist, Alachua, Columbia, Suwannee, County.

Job Offer:
Grove caretaker ,plant, land prep: Workers may be required to perform miscellaneous grove clean-up and caretake work and cultivating,. These activities may removing debris, boxes, discarded fruit from fields to clean growing area , repair and or replace irrigation equipment or install new irrigation equipment , maintain fence lines and moving farm equipment ,lay plastic, and use farm tractors , install stakes .
Planting Melons :
Plant Melon
Sow seeds 1 inch deep in rows, or in hills spaced 6 feet apart. After 2 weeks, thin to 2 plants per hill, then move around vines . Worker will go down the fields carrying trays of transplant and plant them individually in the prepared planting bed by bending down and planting the transplants in the ground & tractor field work . Clean and maintain work areas.
Land Prep :
Tractor drivers will . Install/maintain irrigation systems and water lines lay plastic. Move and install irrigation pipes and equipment. Dig and maintain ditches. Install and remove levee gates. Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop protectants. Apply fertilizers, plant growth chemicals, conditioners, and other plant related treatments at the correct times depending on plant type, growth, climate, and crop conditions. Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer’s products, and property. Work will be responsible for inventory of products used on a daily basis. Must assist with all Good Agricultural Practice policies. Perform prolonged bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 lbs, stand long periods of time. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray, related chemicals, etc may affect workers ability to perform the job. Workers should be physically able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations. Workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning and heat throughout the day while working in the fields. Temperatures may range from 10 to 100 F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Workers will report to work at the designated time and place as directed by the grower each day. The standard work is 6 hours per day. In peak periods of seasonal crop demands, employees may be requested but not required to work up to 12 or more hours per day and/or on the Sabbath or Federal holidays depending upon the conditions in the fields, weather, orders, and maturity of the crop. Employees may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. Workers should expect occasional periods of little or no work because of weather, crop or other conditions beyond the employer’s control. These periods can occur any time throughout the season. All operational specifications can change during the season due to crop or market condition. Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given for each day’s work. A farm manager, supervisor, or a designated employee will provide instructions and general supervision. The grower or supervisor will make daily individual work assignments, team or crew assignments, and determine location of work as the needs of the operation dictates. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day and different tasks on different days. Pay. Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR): $14.77 per hour

Days/Hours:
Monday thru Friday 6 hours per day.
Saturday 5 hours
Work may be offered but not required on Sundays and holidays. Extra work hours may be offered based on weather and other conditions. F. Employer will refund workers living outside commuting distance the reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to report for the first day of work on the 50% date. Will provide workers who complete the contract period the reasonable cost of transportation and subsistence to return to place of recruitment or to report to the next H-2A job. G. Housing and Board.
Housing:
Will provide free housing for workers who arrive from outside daily commuting distance.
Family housing is not available.
Meals (Board):
Employer will provide a free and convenient kitchen and transport workers to a grocery store at least once per week. Workers will purchase and prepare their own meals.
Housing meets the requirements of Federal, State and Local regulations. Rules regarding living accommodations will be found in the Clearance Order. Transportation provided by the employer meets the requirements of Federal, State and Local regulations. H. Prohibition against preferential treatment of aliens: The employer’s job offer must offer to U.S. workers no less than the same benefits, wages, and working conditions that the employer is offering, intends to offer, or will provide to H-2A workers. Job offers may not impose on U.S. workers any restrictions or obligations that will not be imposed on the employer’s H-2A workers. This does not relieve the employer from providing to H-2A workers at least the same level of minimum benefits, wages, and working conditions which must be offered to U.S. workers. I.
