Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Job will be 80% outdoors, requiring willingness to work in Florida weather year-round. Collaborate directly with Field Scientist or Research Associate on various research and operational tasks. Conduct crop scouting for pests. Make recommendations for crop maintenance applications and activities. Operate landscape maintenance equipment (mower, trimmer). Maintain fruit, row crop, and vegetable crop research plots (staking, tying, weeding, etc.). Plant and transplant seedlings by hand. Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand. Operate tractor under supervision. Pull tractor-drawn and self-propelled machinery for tasks like plowing, harrowing, fertilizing, planting, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting crops. Participate in inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops. Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Set up and operate irrigation equipment. Apply pesticides and fertilizers to crops under supervision. Positive attitude and willingness to learn if not familiar with all required skills. Be willing to work longer hours during planting and harvesting seasons.
