The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of technical tasks that support our operations. GFSC is a shellfish hatchery and nursery producing bivalve seed for sale to farms in Florida and other states. We are involved in restoration and research projects to improve the shellfish industry, restocking the estuaries and producing new species of bivalves for aquaculture. We are current expanding our operation and looking for driven and qualified applicants to join our team. Responsibilities Support operation of the hatchery and nursery with organizational responsibilities. Conduct data collection and analysis to support ongoing research projects. Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed. Perform heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with job requirements. Basic plumbing and pump knowledge. Provide care for animals as required, ensuring their well-being and growth. Assist in farm-related tasks, including maintenance and monitoring of equipment. Tank cleaning, maintaining live feed and assist building projects as needed. Collaborate with team members to ensure project goals are met efficiently. Qualifications College degree in Biology or Marine Sciences or strong desire to learn sciences for aquaculture production. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues. Experience in data collection methodologies and analysis techniques. Familiarity with animal handling practices and farm operations is preferred or willingness to learn this trade. Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical labor as required by the job. Must be able to tolerate hot/humid conditions and be on your feet in a fast paced environment. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective teamwork.
