Dune Technician (Entry Level Position) Dune Doctors LLC Freeport, FL As a Dune Technician specializing in manual labor at Dune Doctors, your role is essential to the physical implementation of coastal erosion control and ecosystem restoration projects. You will work outdoors in various weather conditions, engaging in tasks such as planting, weeding, and maintaining native coastal plant species. Your dedication to preserving coastal ecosystems, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols are vital. We are seeking a Dune Technician who possesses strong communication skills and a willingness to learn, as these qualities are essential for working collaboratively on coastal restoration projects and achieving our mission of preserving the natural environment. This position requires reliable transportation to our job sites along the gulf coast. While no specific degree is required, a background in ecological restoration or related fields is a plus. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the environment and contribute to Dune Doctors’ mission of fortifying and protecting the natural coastal environment.

Field work entails:

Install native plants to prevent erosion (sand loss) and build coastal dunes Fertilize plants in order to sustain healthy plants along dunes Place sand under boardwalks to stabilize beach access Trim, prune, and shape bushes to clean the scrub zone Install sand fences on the flat of the beach in order to protect the environment from erosion Transport plants and equipment from the truck, down the boardwalk, and to the work zone Place debris and dead plant material into proper dumpsters to keep the landscape clean

Required:

Knowledge of the process involved to effectively dig a hole General knowledge of different work tools and the functions they serve Basic math skills Skill in operating power tools and machinery Enjoys working in direct sunlight. Able to see, identify, and create straight fencing lines down the beach Able to communicate effectively with others Able to maintain composure in extreme heat Able to adapt to last-minute changes or unforeseen circumstances and challenges
