The Irrigation Tech achieves success by understanding irrigation requirements, providing problem solving and repairs, and performing audits and installations to satisfy client needs. The Irrigation Tech will Direct report to the Irrigation Manager, who will train and direct all techs to perform duties on the jobs efficiently and effectively. Use problem solving skills to fix issues and display creativity to overcome obstacles and achieve goals. Record work orders and discuss/submit to Irrigation Manager. Work independently or with other irrigation team members to ensure proper repairs and audits are completed on the systems. Ensure hours are billable each day. Become familiar with each job’s specifications and ensure compliance with quality and efficiency standards while working within safety standards. Work with the management team to solve specific problems or develop solutions. Perform inspections of equipment and vehicles to see that all is being maintained properly. Ensure client requests are responded to in a timely manner. Communicate proactively and work in concert with the Irrigation Manager to resolve client concerns when applicable.
Job Requirements:
Monday through Thursday 7am to 5:30pm After-hours calls are the responsibility of the irrigation division and ultimately falls on the Irrigation Manager to ensure the repair has been completed or water leak is turned off until the next available service day. Irrigation Techs must be available to handle some of these emergencies. These repairs will be billed independently and overtime pay is charged appropriately. Irrigation Tech must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain clearance for Fort Eisenhower Air Force Base.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Physical – sufficient physical ability to work outdoors for lengthy periods of time (minimum 10-hour days) including bending, stooping, walking, standing, reaching, twisting, grasping, lifting (up to 50 pounds; up to 100 pounds with assistance); repetitive movements; carrying or pushing equipment; driving motorized vehicles and equipment; being able to see and hear within normal ranges with or without corrective support. Environment – Inside and outside environments working near moving mechanical parts; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, dirt, grease, fumes, gases, potentially hazardous chemicals, electrical energy, and inclement weather conditions including wet and/or humid conditions; work around water; work on slippery surfaces; work near loud noise levels; work near street/road traffic and pedestrians.
