Global Growers Network (GGN) is a nonprofit based in Decatur, GA & Conyers, GA, and is home to a network of more than 200 diverse farmers and food systems leaders who are growing fresh, culturally significant foods for their families and the local marketplace. With a focus on equity, justice and diversity in our local food system, we represent over 20 cultures and languages. We operate a network of community gardens in Decatur and Clarkston, a market farm located at the Indian Creek MARTA station in Stone Mountain, and a 23-acre organic co-farm in Conyers.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

Program Overview
The Co-Farm Apprenticeship Program is a 10-week hands-on learning opportunity designed for individuals interested in learning about small-scale Organic farming. Apprentices will gain experience in a wide variety of farm activities, from field-work, to post-harvest handling and sales, to farm administrative tasks. Global Grower’s Rockdale Organic Co-Farm is a 23 acre farm located in Conyers, GA. There are currently 13 Co-Farmers operating 9 independently owned farm businesses on this property. As a Farm Apprentice you would work primarily with Grow With The Flow, the anchor farmers of the property who have been farming for over a decade. You would work with them on their 1-acre farm, in the shared Wash/Pack facility, and at one of their regular farmer’s markets. You may also have the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the other 8 farm businesses located at the Co-Farm. Duration
June 17th to Aug 23rd Responsibilities Expected time commitment is 16 hours per week, for 10 weeks
Apprentices will work closely with Grow With The Flow, and potentially other Co-Farmers, to complete planting, harvesting, washing and packing, irrigation, cultivation, record-keeping, market, and farm maintenance tasks. Qualifications Interest in sustainable agriculture and food systems
Flexible, able, and willing to perform a variety of tasks in changing situations
Willingness to perform physical farm labor in various weather conditions
Strong attention to detail
Willingness to learn and follow instructions
