Supervisor (Integrated Pest Management) / Cultivation Hand Sama Productions LLC is a licensed cannabis cultivation and product manufacturing company located in the scenic Berkshires of Southwestern Massachusetts. Job Overview We are currently hiring for an IPM Supervisor (Integrated Pest Management) / Cultivation Hand to oversee the health and protection of our cannabis crops while supporting general cultivation operations as needed. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing pest management strategies, scouting protocols, and preventative measures to ensure healthy plant production while maintaining compliance with Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission regulations. The ideal candidate has experience with pest and disease management in cannabis or other controlled-environment agriculture settings, excellent observation skills, and is comfortable balancing hands-on cultivation work with their IPM responsibilities. This is a full-time position based out of Berkshire County with significant growth potential for the right candidate.
Primary Responsibilities Integrated Pest Management Duties:
Monitor cultivation spaces daily to identify pests, pathogens, diseases, and environmental stressors. Accurately diagnose and identify pest and disease pressure using scouting reports, visual inspections, and monitoring tools (sticky cards, traps, etc.). Maintain, and execute a comprehensive IPM program in coordination with the Director of Cultivation. Maintain detailed IPM records, including scouting reports, treatment applications, and environmental data. Apply biological controls, cultural controls, organic-approved pesticides, and mechanical controls as necessary under company SOPs and CCC regulations. Manage the ordering, storage, and inventory of all IPM-related products, ensuring proper labeling and safe handling procedures. Coordinate with cultivation team to schedule preventive maintenance, sanitation protocols, and cultural practices that promote plant health and prevent outbreaks. Maintain compliance with all state regulations regarding pesticide use, application documentation, and worker protection standards. Train cultivation staff on IPM best practices, sanitation, early detection, and reporting.
Cultivation Hand Duties:
Assist with daily plant care tasks such as cloning, pruning, transplanting, irrigation, and harvesting. Support sanitation and cleanliness protocols throughout cultivation and propagation areas. Participate in post-harvest processes including bucking, trimming, curing, and packaging. Maintain proper organization and cleanliness of IPM supplies, equipment, and cultivation spaces. Work collaboratively with team members, leads, and management to ensure cultivation goals are met.
Qualifications Required:
21 years of age or older Must have reliable transportation Must be able to pass a CORI background check per MA Cannabis Control Commission guidelines Previous experience in pest management, agriculture, horticulture, or cannabis cultivation Working knowledge of cannabis pests, pathogens, and beneficial organisms Ability to safely handle and apply pesticides according to state regulations and manufacturer instructions Strong observation and problem-solving skills Excellent record-keeping and attention to detail Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team Physically capable of performing cultivation work (standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, repetitive tasks)
Preferred:
Current MA pesticide applicator license (or willingness to obtain) Experience with organic pest management and biological controls Familiarity with MA Cannabis Control Commission compliance regulations Prior work experience in a licensed cannabis cultivation facility Familiarity with METRC or other cannabis tracking systems Passion for cannabis cultivation and a desire to grow professionally within the industry Why Join Sama Productions LLC?
