PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This position reports to the Commodity Risk Manager with the explicit responsibility for operating the grain scale(s) and computer system while being proficient with LifeLine Foods and ethanol products applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate grain scale and maintain customer service with external customers/producers. Operate Kice automation system to select bins, start drags and Pit 1 for daily truck deliveries. Complete grading of all incoming corn. Assist other personnel as needed in the Elevator department. Maintain a clean and organized work area including cleanliness, serviceability, and accountability of all tools, equipment, and supplies. Immediately notify the Commodity Risk Manager, or appropriate management member, of any discrepancies in grain inventory. Operate Elevator equipment to move and store corn. Assist with managing corn condition and condition of corn storage equipment (bins). Understand daily movement of corn throughout the entire Elevator. Identify and communicate maintenance needs of Elevator equipment and report to Manager and/or Maintenance. Record stored corn quality, inventory location and storage levels. Prevent cross-contamination of organic/non-GMO and white corn with other corn in the Elevator during storage and transfer. Operate PIT equipment (e.g., skid steer, tractor, forklift, etc.) as needed. Use Vertical software to capture weight and corn quality specifications to create truck tickets. Complete all paperwork accurately to comply with HACCP, tracebility, FS, and quality requirements. Maintain excellent position regarding GMPs. Clean and prepare for monthly Fogging, not only in immediate work area, but other areas of the facility as needed. Adhere to the Lifeline Foods Code of Team Behavior. In that regard, this position may be expected to perform duties outside the key responsibilities. Responsible for Food Safety, quality and personal safety.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is manufacturing. Frequently exposed to airborne particles (dust) and/or toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to hot/cold and/or humid conditions. Frequently works near machinery with moving parts. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. Occasionally exposed to fumes and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School education or equivalent is preferred, or at least 3 years of grain elevator experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Basic math skills required. Basic mechanical skills preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures. Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal customers. Technology proficient to include use of computers, tablets, and two-way radio communications. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion. Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Required to sit; use hands to finger; handle, feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; speak; hear, taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Must be able to safely work at heights over 10′, including manlifts, ladders, platforms, equipment tops, tops of railcars and scaffolding. Must be able to climb ladders and platforms, enter confined spaces and wear all safety equipment. Must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time.
