Goal & Responsibilities:

• Tumbling Shoals Farm is a fun, fast-paced work environment. You will work as part of a crew to maintain the overall health of the organic orchard including apples, peaches, cherries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries.
• General orchard production tasks include mulching, trellising, irrigation, weeding, pruning, pest management, mowing, etc.

Experience:

• At least one season of commercial farm experience is preferred, but some demonstration of ability to do outside physical labor is a must. Familiarity with farm tools and equipment is a plus. General skills & abilities:
• Team player (we don’t call it the “farmily” for nothing!)
• Understanding of body mechanics and efficiency

Requirements:

• Able to bend, crouch, squat, kneel, and stand for long periods of time
• Able to lift 30-40 lbs consistently, 50 lbs frequently
• Able to use hands for fast fine motor movements with plants, tools, rubber bands, etc
• Able and willing to work outside in various weather conditions
• Able to effectively communicate—this is key to a small farm
• Able to recognize gaps in knowledge, skills, and experience and seek feedback and assistance when appropriate Compensation and time commitment:
• Positions are full-time, 40-hour per week.

New employees begin at $16.50 per hour. Benefits include a paid vacation, sick leave, and all the organic veggies you can eat. Positions begin as early as February 1 and continue through the end of September. We are adding positions throughout the season, so flexible start and end dates are a possibility depending upon your availability. Longer season/year-round employment may be a possibility if suitable.
