Farm and Greenhouse Assistant Position Available In Nassau, New York

Overview Assists in performing various farm and greenhouse duties in an indoor and outdoor setting, as assigned by the supervisor. Responsibilities Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Assists in moving supplies and equipment as needed. Monitors inventory of supplies and notifies team leader when the need for replenishment arises. Helps with greenhouse/nursery and property-related activities including planting, transplanting, deadheading, cutback, clean-up, hand-watering, weeding, pruning, mulching. Ensures cleanliness of the property (including farmhouse and greenhouse) through proactive monitoring/walkthroughs. Cleaning out pens/paddocks and facilities. Feeding and caring for livestock (goats, pig, ponies, chickens, ducks, etc.) and small animals. Moving and refilling feed, hay, and other supplies and materials. Supports Management staff with learning and hands-on activities with Day Hab, Program Participants, Volunteers, Visitors, etc. Provide support to the team by developing flyers for internal communication and taking photos and short videos for use on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Notifies supervisor of problems/difficulties in performing job duties. Performs additional related duties as requested by supervisor. Qualifications High School Diploma and NYS Driver’s License preferred but not required. Ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor, with ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; ability to understand instructions given by supervisor. Flexible; able to accept changes in job duties. Physical aspects may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50 lbs.
