Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and creative Specialty Food Maker to join our team on a part-time, seasonal basis. This position involves preparing a variety of jams, jellies, apple butter, cakes, and pies using fresh fruits harvested from our farm. The ideal candidate will work in our commercial kitchen to produce high-quality, flavorful products that represent the essence of Williamson Family Farm. These goods will be sold at our on-site Farmers Market and special farm events. The role also includes helping with food preparation for weeknight and weekend events such as festivals, Sunday Brunch, and nightly events, as well as sourcing packaging and supplies needed for selling canned and baked goods.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook jams, jellies, apple butter, cakes, and pies using farm-grown fruits according to established recipes and standards. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the commercial kitchen at all times. Accurately measure and combine ingredients, monitor cooking processes, and package finished products. Ensure consistency and quality of products, adhering to food safety regulations and standards. Collaborate with farm management to develop new recipes and seasonal flavors. Produce 150-200 canned jars of jams, jellies, and apple butter for each festival or special event held at the farm. Bake cakes and create pies using farm-grown fruits for sale at the on-site Farmers Market or special events. Label, store, and inventory finished products appropriately. Maintain records of production quantities, ingredients used, and inventory levels. Assist with occasional farm events or demonstrations related to jam, jelly making, baking, or pie creation. Help source packaging and supplies needed for selling canned and baked goods. Participate in food preparation for events, including festivals, Sunday Brunch, and nightly events.
Qualifications:
Experience in food preparation, especially in making jams, jellies, preserves, cakes, and pies, preferred. Familiarity with commercial kitchen operations and food safety standards. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Located near Murfreesboro, TN, with reliable transportation to the farm. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
