Box 3 & 4. This work order is forqualified people to perform the duties related to harvesting produce inan apple orchard. Workers must be able and willing to work in variedweather conditions including hot/humid summer days during harvest ashigh as 90 degrees. Workers must be able to handle and climb a 20-footladder repetitively while carrying an apple picking bucket which isharnessed over the workers shoulders. Workers may perform the duties ofpicking rocks to prepare soil for planting, training and pruning appletrees, operating farm machinery, working in a packing house, picking upbrush from orchard floor, and repairing broken bins. Workers may alsoplant and water trees, as well as other farm related duties as the needarises. When harvesting apples, productivity must be at least 601-1/8-bushel boxes per 7 hours worked with no more than 5% bruising forfresh market. The work assigned will be physically demanding, bending,stooping and kneeling for long periods of time will be required. Workersmust be able to lift and carry 50 pounds frequently. Workers must beavailable to 8-hour shifts on Monday through Friday between the hours of7:00am – 7:00pm; and workers may be required to work 5-hour shifts onSaturday between the hours of 7:00am – 7:00pm. Workers will be given a60-minute lunch break which is staggered between 11am – 1pm as decidedby the workers. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and returnto work after their 60 minutes are up. The daily or weekly workschedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, orchardconditions, and other factors. Employers will notify workers of anychange to the schedule. The employer will provide 1 day of training andallow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform dutiesdescribed in this job description. The employer will furnish to workerswithout cost all tools and equipment required to perform all dutiesassigned. Workers should report for work with their own suitableclothing and must be able to take directions in simple English.
