Job Description
General Position Statement:
The Poultry Lender III originates, structures, underwrites, closes, and services poultry-production credit facilities for growers across the Southeast. The role demands advanced knowledge of integrator contracts, USDA / FSA-guaranteed programs, construction-to-permanent financing, and collateral evaluation. The officer will manage a portfolio of approximately $15 million
- $40 million while ensuring strict adherence to BankPlus credit policy and all applicable regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- []{#_Hlk156813978 target=”_blank”} Business Development and Origination
- Identify, solicit, and structure financing opportunities for poultry-farm construction, acquisition, retrofit, debt restructure, and operating lines; build and deepen relationships with integrators, contractors, agricultural realtors, and allied service providers
- Credit Analysis and Underwriting
- Perform comprehensive analysis of settlement sheets, production contracts, pro-forma cash flows, appraisals, environmental reports, and industry benchmarks; prepare detailed Loan Memoranda, Credit Analysis Summaries, and Risk Ratings for senior-committee approval
- Portfolio and Risk Management
- Monitor covenant compliance, house retrofits, collateral condition, insurance coverage, escrow activity, and past-due accounts; conduct onsite inspections to verify construction progress, equipment installation, operational readiness, and environmental compliance
- Government-Guaranteed Programs
- Guide borrowers through
USDA / FSA
guarantee processes, including application preparation, documentation, compliance monitoring, and inspections
- Closing and Funding
- Coordinate title searches, UCC filings, appraisals, environmental reviews, and insurance confirmations; ensure all pre-funding conditions are satisfied prior to disbursement
- Industry and Community Engagement
- Represent BankPlus at poultry-industry conferences, trade shows, and community outreach events to enhance brand visibility and sector intelligence
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of Bank products, services, policies, procedures,and appropriate regulatory issues as related to daily job functions, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy Act; Fair Lending Act; Regulation E; etc. Completes required compliance training and adheres to the Banks standard of conduct
- Perform other duties as requested
- Participation in the banks High-Performance Rewards Connections Program
- Make referrals to the Mortgage Center and Wealth Management.
Position Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of agricultural lending experience, with direct exposure to poultry-production finance preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in credit underwriting, farm cash-flow analysis, collateral valuation, and construction lending; strong working knowledge of USDA / FSA-guaranteed loan programs
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and loan-origination platforms (e.g., nCino)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present concise credit recommendations to executive leadership
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast for farm visits, integrator meetings, and industry events; valid drivers license required
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or Agri-Finance certification preferred
- Established network within major poultry integrators and agricultural service providers preferred.
