Breeder Manager Job Summary:
The Pullet Supervisor will oversee pullet farms and work closely with contract growers to ensure pullets are raised to meet Harrison Poultry’s standards for flock health, uniformity, animal welfare, and biosecurity. This position plays a vital role in preparing quality flocks for transition into breeder production. Key Responsibilities Conduct pre-placement inspections and routine farm visits to monitor bird condition, house environment, and compliance with company standards. Serve as the main point of contact between Harrison Poultry and contract growers, ensuring adherence to all flock management protocols. Monitor and report pullet flock performance metrics, including body weights, uniformity, feed and water intake, and mortality. Manage and coordinate feed inventories and deliveries to ensure proper nutrition at each growth stage. Train and guide growers on proper biosecurity, animal welfare, vaccination programs, and flock management best practices. Assist the Breeder Manager with flock transfers and placement schedules. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Breeder Manager. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, or a related agricultural field (preferred). Valid Driver’s License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must not own or have contact with live poultry, birds, or other animals to maintain biosecurity compliance.
Work Environment:
Work occurs in poultry houses and outdoor environments, often in seasonal weather conditions. Poultry houses may be dusty and hot at times. Protective gear, including clear plastic boots, disposable coveralls, and hairnets, must be worn when inside poultry houses.
