RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the timely movement of greenhouse product onto the retail floor. Maintain the appearance, display and health of greenhouse products on the retail floor. Provide horticultural knowledge to both greenhouse staff and retail customers as needed. Coordinate intake of all incoming plant material and growing supplies, and organize all new material into existing inventories. Create and execute planting and care schedules for all plants. Maintain quarterly records of all growing supplies in the inventory. Participate in the annual production planning processes. Help maintain labeling systems for all plant varieties, utilizing internal equipment and software, to ensure bar codes are in line with point-of-sale (POS) coding. Manage label updating for all new and existing products, ensuring edits and corrections are made in a timely and accurate manner. Track the processing of requests within the POS system to ensure that all purchases are accurately reflected in inventory counts. Track the production schedule, including the physical planting of all entered plant varieties – vegetables, herbs, and annual and perennial ornamental plants, in coordination with the production schedule. Administer the safety policies of all on-site production activities. Provide training to new employees on production methods and safety procedures. Identify production or safety related issues and promptly communicate them to the Head Grower or General Manager. Monitor environments to ensure maintenance of optimum plant life and maintain clean working environment in compliance with regulations and company requirements. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the latest methods and technologies in the industry by attending seminars and workshops.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or closely related field (foreign equivalent is acceptable).
