Job Summary The incumbent provides leadership and support in enhancing the economic development and sustainability of small farms and rural agribusinesses in Mississippi. He/she assists in the planning, coordination, and execution of initiatives designed to support small-scale agricultural producers, agribusinesses, and entrepreneurs. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of agricultural policy, government programs, and grant opportunities for farmers
Familiarity with farm challenges, including financial management, marketing, sustainability, and resource access
Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and interpersonal
Strong analytical skills
Ability to effectively deliver presentations and facilitate training sessions
Ability to work effectively with groups. Including farmers, community members, faculty, and stakeholders
Ability to use data to inform decision-making Essential Job Functions Assists in the development and implementation of programs aimed at improving the profitability, sustainability, and competitiveness of small farms and agribusinesses in Mississippi
Collaborates with the MSFAC Director and other stakeholders to ensure that programs align with the needs of the target community and industry trends
Assists in conducting research on the needs and challenges faced by small farmers and rural agribusinesses
Collects, analyzes, and interprets data to assess the effectiveness of programs and identify opportunities for improvement
Assists in identifying funding opportunities from government, private sector, and other sources to support the center’s initiatives
Helps prepare grant proposals, reports, and budgets, and ensure compliance with funding guidelines and regulations
Oversees the management of grants and other financial resources to ensure proper utilization and accountability
Collaborates with other university departments, external partners, and community organizations to enhance the center’s impact and reach
Represents the MSFAC at conferences, meetings, and events related to small farm and agribusiness issues
Other related duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Agricultural Education, or related field.
Minimum Experience
Five (5) years’ experience working in agricultural extension, agribusiness management, rural development, or related fields.
Experience with small farm operations, agribusiness management, or rural economic development is highly preferred. Licensing and Certifications N/A
