Confidential Norwood, NC area (1 hour from Charlotte) Salary Based on Experience (140k to 150k) + Housing + Company Vehicle + Benefits We’re hiring a full-time, on-site Ranch Manager to oversee all aspects of a working ranch that includes horses, cattle, bison, and small farm animals. This position is ideal for someone with deep experience in livestock management, horse training, heavy equipment operation, and ranch maintenance—and who’s passionate about animal welfare.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and support a team of 10+ ranch staff members Manage daily care of horses: feeding, watering, health checks, training, breeding & foaling Oversee care of horses, bison, cattle, and small farm animals Operate and maintain ranch equipment: tractors, combines, haying tools, etc.
Manage haying and alfalfa production:
seeding, fertilizing, harvesting Perform ranch infrastructure maintenance, including carpentry and basic mechanical work Working knowledge of medical needs and conditions to monitor animal health and identify when veterinary attention is needed Occasionally assist with exotic animals on-site (not primary responsibility) Develop budgets and present cost projections to ownership Collaborate with state and federal agencies on conservation and breeding programs
What We’re Looking For:
20+ years of hands-on ranch experience Strong leadership/management and communication skills Proficiency with agricultural equipment and mechanical repairs Deep knowledge of animal care and welfare Willingness to live on the ranch (housing provided) Comfortable working around exotic animals when needed Experience working with government or wildlife agencies a plus Strong commitment to conservation and ethical breeding practices and animal welfare Passion for animal conservation
