- $53,800 Work Schedule Flexible as needed, 40 hrs per week including weekends Job Location Raleigh, NC Department Dairy And Process Applications About the Department The Dairy Enterprise System is a commodity-based operational unit within the Dept of Food, Bioprocessing, and Nutrition Sciences consisting of the Lake Wheeler Dairy Farm, the Feldmeier Dairy Processing Lab, and the Dairy Education Center located at the entrance of the Dairy Farm.
The individual units participate in Teaching, Research, and Extension of dairy sciences and technology encompassing the production farm and dairy processing facility. Outreach to the general public is accomplished through the Dairy Education Center where all components of dairy are highlighted as an educational tool for university students and all aspects of the general population. Essential Job Duties The Food Services Supervisor has the overall responsibility of supervising all aspects of the Howling Cow Dairy Education Center and Creamery at the Lake Wheeler Dairy Farm including all components of the ice cream, food service operation, and assigned farm visitors services. The Food Services Supervisor shall report directly to the Dairy Education Coordinator and assist in developing creamery operations and programs. The Food Services Supervisor will oversee compliance and necessary documentation of regulatory, university, college, and departmental requirements including but not limited to accounting, personnel / HR duties, purchasing, forecasting, oversight of financial and computer systems, and ensure proper training of employees. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Ensure adequate kitchen and food supply levels while maintaining equipment PM and necessary repairs. Oversee and/or prepare a range of foods that meet the standards of taste, appearance, texture, and diet requirements. Supervise the creamery operation including multiple personnel consisting of volunteers, service providers, retail creamery personnel, and student labor. Oversee compliance and necessary documentation of regulatory, university, college, and departmental requirements including but not limited to accounting, personnel / HR duties, purchasing, forecasting, and oversight of computer and payment systems while ensuring proper training of employees. Anticipate customer needs; address and modify work units to resolve and prevent potential problems. Serve as point of contact with customers regarding quality and timeliness of operation. Encourage customer feedback and ensure quality services during operations. Plan daily and weekly work schedules and events to meet needs. Assess the needs of the operation, and recommend changes in procedures, workflow, and staffing. Inspect work products and assist in food service and kitchen clean-up procedures. Conduct internal inspections to ensure compliance with sanitation rules. Other Responsibilities Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Experience/Education High School diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in food preparation or service activities in a commercial kitchen; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
