Flock Service Team Purpose:

To manage all Maple Lawn Associates, Inc. (MLA) pullet and layer flocks, serving God and Humanity by providing excellent and innovative poultry products for life and health. This includes cultivating consistent professional working relationships with Sanofi, contract farmers, potential contract farmers, and suppliers.

Essential Responsibilities:

Oversee all pullet and layer flocks to ensure birds are getting the best care and that Maple Lawn has a strong flock network resource. Oversee all flock/egg production. Improve product quality, consistency, and cost. Monitor and seek ways to improve flock performance. Be contact person for Sanofi Q.C. audits and all other customer/supplier interactions. Serve as MLA’s representative to the poultry industry in order to grow acquaintance with neighbors and the industry’s decision makers, to gain knowledge on current events, to participate in industry decisions, and to stay informed on protocols which could affect MLA directly or indirectly. Uphold MLA’s Mission, Vision, and Values to build relationships of mutual respect and trust with contract farmers, suppliers, and customer. Manage all contract farmers. Coordinate and support Flock Service Team to establish clear lines of communication with farmers and process criticisms and ideas from contract producers and their employees. Ensure contract farms are compliant with policies and procedures enforced by MLA and/or Sanofi. Oversee organization of contract producer training records. Develop and update flock plan. Oversee MLA Flock Care Program and MLA Producer SOP. Partner with Operations Director to prepare for HPAI scenarios and to update plans. Participate in monthly

phone calls and in Sanofi annual HPAI roundtable. Partner with Operations Director to meet Sanofi compliance requests. Oversee FDA compliance. Oversee product inventory and ordering for Flock supplies. Obtain Pesticide Applicator’s License. Oversee vaccine schedules and ordering. Review and approve all invoices associated with Production/Flock Service. Audit all MLA owned flocks quarterly to ensure compliance of FDA food safety plan, MLA Flock Care Program, and all Sanofi regulations. Oversee feed formulations. Oversee and collaborate with Operations Director on PA Poultry Council work. Oversee and support Contract Flock Coordinator in coordinating chicken house cleanup. Assist Flock Service Team in coordinating and performing regular testing to evaluate flock health and egg production. Coordinate, with Flock Service Technicians, contract growing of pullets, embryo production, and layer management: Service flocks Vaccination of flocks Organize labor for chick placements Schedule lighting Perform routine testing Work with Incubation Manager to coordinate commercial and embryo egg schedules, and to address embryo quality issues. Ensure direct reports are in compliance with MLA Handbook and Policies. Document and report to HR Manager any escalating employee concerns, such as ongoing Employee Handbook violations, conflicts, job performance issues, repetitive call-offs, etc. and corrective actions. Obtain and review assigned employee requested/prescheduled leave. Field last minute call off requests from assigned employees and make associated staffing adjustments as needed. Work with the Director of Training in developing and/or revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Standard Work Instructions (SWI’s), and associated documents related to the Production department.

Other Responsibilities:

Be available on-call to respond to emergency needs related to MLA flock network. Participate in educational opportunities such as poultry conventions, skill development, etc. Participate in leadership meetings, as requested. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

High school diploma or GED; and at least 5 years poultry and animal production experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. B.S. in Agriculture preferred. Must have valid Driver’s License. Must have PA Certified Poultry Technician license. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) and other computer programs as needed. Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, production reports or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or producers.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to convert between metric and imperial (US) units of measure.
