Responsibilities:
Manage livestock care, including feeding, health monitoring, and husbandry.
- Manage pasture health for animal grazing. Develop and implement farm management plans for animal health and welfare. Oversee pasture management, including rotational grazing and maintenance. Operate and maintain farm equipment, including tractors and implements. Perform basic equipment repair and maintenance.
- Supervise and train farm staff. Maintain accurate records of livestock, equipment, and farm operations. Demonstrate horsemanship skills, including working and riding horses. Ensure the farm meets production targets and industry standards.
- Oversee daily care and well-being of all livestock, demonstrating horsemanship and animal husbandry skills.
- Handle the demands of farming. Long hard days in the summer months and more laid back in the winter months.
- Be able to take livestock to the auction or sell direct to store/restaurant/consumer.
Requirements:
Proven experience in managing a diverse livestock farm. Extensive experience with horses, including riding and handling. Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm equipment. Strong knowledge of animal husbandry practices. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Strong work ethic and compassion for animals. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and handle physical tasks (ability to lift 50 pounds routinely and heavier lifts less frequently, with assistance available). Valid driver’s license required. Clean background check and drug test required.
