Job Description
Plant Manager Butterworks Farm 429 Trumpass Road, Westfield, VT 05874 Position Details Making our rich, creamy Jersey milk into yogurt, kefir, buttermilk and heavy cream Filling and packaging products Marking and stamping boxes for product Organizing orders for distributor pickup, building and wrapping pallets Clear record keeping to ensure food safety as well as documentation for State and Organic inspections Inventory and ordering Meeting and working with inspectors Planning for batch makes of each product Cleaning and maintaining all processing equipment Making samples of new products Other responsibilities and hours are available and will be assigned Plant Process Monday Assemble and run cream separator Pump milk from milk house to plant Collect milk samples and run antibiotic milk tests Set up the yogurt filling machine and sanitize Pasteurize and Culture each batch of milk to be run through the filler• Run sequential batches with necessary cleaning or adjustments to machine between each batch Break down machine, wash all parts in wash sink or by hand Support as needed with all processing components Complete paperwork related to product makes and sanitation records Tuesday Get yogurt boxes stamped with correct flavor and date from box room Pack previous day’s yogurt in boxes Sanitize bottle filler parts and machine Assemble bottle filler Get caps from storeroom Bottle cream and buttermilk or kefir Rinse bottle filler when finished Disassemble machine and put parts in wash sink Assist in running wash sink and washing pasteurizing vats as needed Complete paperwork related to product makes and sanitation records Wednesday Get boxes from box room Fill 6-packs according to orders Pack yogurt in boxes Help assemble pallets according to orders Shrink-wrap pallets Pack orders for bottled products according to Farm Connex order sheet Shrink-wrap pallets Milk planning for batch sizes for the following week
