Aquaculture Systems Specialist Position Available In Hancock, Maine
Job Description
Job Details To ensure operational integrity of aquaculture research and development facilities and aquatic animal life support systems by verifying equipment function and facilities checks; responding to and correcting equipment and systems failures; fabricating, installing, maintaining, and repairing aquaculture equipment and facilities; performing animal husbandry and related activities to ensure the health and welfare of aquatic organisms; and providing weekend, holiday, and emergency response coverage.
Requirements Required:
High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) AND three years related experience in mechanical trades or aquaculture systems. Must be able spend workday on foot walking around campus. Must be able to climb stairs and platforms, and work in narrow spaces under sometimes-adverse environmental conditions. Must be able to frequently lift 30 lbs and occasionally lift or move 50 lbs.
Preferred:
At least one year experience in marine trades. At least 3 years’ experience in mechanical trades, which could include plumbing, mechanical repair, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical. Basic working knowledge of aquaculture and/or fish husbandry. Experience performing similar duties at an aquaculture lease site or R D facility is desirable. Demonstrated capacity to work alone and without direct on-site supervision.
