Description of Work Are you passionate about the environment and want to make a difference? DEQ has an open opportunity for a Marine Fisheries Technician. DMF 60032737 NC04 This Marine Fisheries Technician conducts fishery-independent gill net sampling based in the Washington, NC regional office. This technician collects biological information from recreationally and commercially important species including but not limited to length, weight, sex, reproductive condition, diet samples, age structures, and tagging. They are responsible for processing, recording, compiling, submitting, and verifying biological data related to the gill net project. Field duties include operating and maintaining outboard motors, boats, trailers, trucks, and other sampling equipment. The job often requires lifting heavy samples of fish, computer use, and working independently and with others. Normal work hours will be late evening and early morning. The technician will also support the Pamlico district biologists on other state and federally funded projects as necessary. A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.
