Job Description

Pine Straw Baler. 23 temporary, full-time positions. 10/01/2025 – 02/15/2026. Mechanical Pinestraw Balers, LLC located at 88 Smith Road, Chelsea, AL 35043. Clean pine straw field (pick up sticks, pinecones, and pull, dig up and spray weeds). Rake pine straw with barley rake into piles for baling. Bale pine straw with tractor. Load pine straw on semi-trailers or trucks. Prepare the area to install pine straw and install the pine straw. Workers will operate a John Deere 3025D tractor and a John Deere pine straw baler. Workers will manually load and unload pine straw by hand onto a flatbed truck or semi-trailer. Workers will perform tasks in a combination of locations such as forests and pine tree farms as well as commercial and residential properties. 40 hours per week. 8 to 10 hours of overtime may be available. 8 hours per day. Friday:

7am to 4pm including 1 hour lunch. No minimum education required. 3 months experience required (landscaping). Must be able to work in hot climates. Post-employment drug testing may occur based upon the employers reasonable suspicion of an employees drug use. The employee will not supervise other workers. Travel will be required. Daily transportation provided by the employer to worksites. Work will be performed in the following counties: Shelby County, AL.

Wage:

$17.72/hour.

OT Wage:

$26.58/hour. Workers paid weekly.

Housing Assistance:

Yes. Optional board/lodging available at a cost to be deducted from pay if elected.

Cost of housing:

$60.00/month. On the job training provided. Raises and/or bonuses may be offered to any worker in the specified occupation, at the companys sole discretion, based on individual factors including work performance, skill and tenure. Single workweek will be used to compute wages due. All deductions from the workers paycheck required by law will be made. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for workers reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a workers voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence provided at a rate of at least $16.28/day during travel to a maximum of $68/day with receipts. H2B Workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees). Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job, and guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12 week period of total employment period.
