QUESTIONS
Major Functions The County of Volusia is seeking a Range Master for the Parks, Recreation & Culture Division. This position is located in Daytona Beach, Florida, and will be responsible for supervision and operation of the Strickland firearms range. Illustrative Duties (

A Range Safety possess the Knowledge, Skills and Attitude essential to conducting and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
Inform public of range safety and operational rules and guidelines.
Control the firing line and ensure patrons compliance with safe firearm handling procedures.
Insure adherence to range rules and standard procedures.

Computer Skills:

Set-up and run a data entry program to collect entrance fees.
Maintain range for daily operations
Responsible for Preparing Deposits and processing daily ledgers.
Ability to work Days, Weekends and some Holidays on a rotating schedule.
Empty trash cans.
Enforce standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Clean bathrooms. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and one (1) year experience in dealing with the public and operating a firing range. The preferred candidate will have at least two (2) years of experience operating a public shooting range, knowledge of weapons use and safety, handling of firearms, as well as, grounds maintenance experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of the safety procedures of operating a firearms range.
Knowledge of weapons use and safe handling of firearms.
Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and patrons.
Able to follow written and oral instructions.
Able to set up the range for daily operations.
Able to perform minor building and grounds maintenance and repairs.
Able to use a wide variety of maintenance equipment.

ADA REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements:

Light to medium work. Able to walk, lift (50 lbs.), carry, push, pull and lift. Ability to effectively communicate with the co-workers and the public.

Mental Requirements:

 Able to read and understand safety rules, operation instructions, and general business letters. Able to speak clearly and concisely. Able to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.

Environmental Demands:

 Outside work. Exposure to inclement weather including humidity, heat, cold, rain, dust. Position requires employee to be on their feet and moving during shift. Noise from weapons being fired.
