Full Job Description Position Overview:
Childress Vineyards, an award-winning winery owned by NASCAR team owner Richard Childress, is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Tasting Room Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and wine and are eager to create memorable experiences for guests. As a Tasting Room Associate, you will be responsible for conducting wine tastings, guiding tours, assisting with retail sales, and ensuring outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Engagement:
Warmly greet guests, provide a welcoming atmosphere, and conduct engaging wine tastings. Educate visitors on Childress Vineyards’ wines, history, and winemaking process.
Sales and Promotion:
Promote and sell wine, merchandise, and wine club memberships. Provide pairing recommendations and facilitate sales transactions using the pointofsale (POS) system.
Tasting Room Operations:
Ensure the tasting room and gift shop are clean, organized, and wellstocked. Maintain glassware and display arrangements to enhance the guest experience.
Tour Guidance:
Lead informative and interactive winery tours, sharing knowledge about the vineyard, winemaking process, and wine selections.
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and educate guests. Passion for customer service with a focus on creating memorable guest experiences. Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or customer service is preferred. Basic knowledge of wine is a plus; training will be provided. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fastpaced environment. Comfortable using a POS system and handling transactions. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years old. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 45 lbs. Availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evening events. Background check and drug screening required prior to employment.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods, often for the entire shift. Ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs. frequently, including cases of wine and other inventory. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions such as pouring wine and handling merchandise. Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions. Ability to move quickly in a fastpaced setting and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
