Job Description
About us: The Green Thumb Program is carried out through contracts developed with numerous state agencies. Green Thumbers can be found working with the Departments of Environmental Conservation, Agriculture and Markets, and Transportation, as well as Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, The State University of New York, and the Office of General Services.
Green Thumb Environmental Beautification, Inc. coordinates the statewide assignment of senior citizens to positions in the state agencies served by Green Thumb. Peter Crouse, President/Chairman of the Board of Green Thumb, provides general oversight of the program, operating out of our headquarters in Albany, New York. Green Thumb Field Representatives across the state coordinate the activities of Green Thumbers in the field and recruit interested senior citizens into the program.
Must be 55 or olderGross yearly income must be less than $39,000 if single and $84,600 if married.
Sweep daily, vacuum and mop weekly or more if needed:
All offices downstairs and upstairs, hallway and stairs, restrooms, break room, stockroom and mechanics shop.
Clean and sanitize daily:
Men and womens toilet, mirror, lavatory doorknobs and walls, break room counters, appliances, door handles, windows, etc., glass in front lobby area, door handles, all doorknobs and push plates in high traffic areas.
Empty trash cans and recycle bins daily:
Break room, upstairs and downstairs offices, bathrooms and mechanics shop.
Outside work as necessary:
Remove snow with a shovel or snowblower from entryways, mowing with a push mower, weed whacking; grass, weed, leaf and stick removal (from walkways as well), garbage removal, pruning trees, planting and maintaining flowers during season.
