POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s Water Quality Technician 1 position will perform a variety of tasks as they relate to monitoring water chemistry testing. The technician will work closely with the Water Quality Manager to ensure consistency in water quality in order to maintain optimal health and environments for all animals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for water quality testing at the facility Responsible for electrode/probe calibration, general maintenance of lab equipment, and lab cleanliness. Conducts routine inventory for lab associated equipment. Work with and supervise volunteers and interns Develop skills necessary to interpret water quality data and perform chemical additions or adjustments to LSS in order to provide proper habitat environment. Maintain good communication with the Water Quality Manager and the Animal Care Department. Record accurate records as related to water quality data. Be flexible to work any schedule including weekends, nights and holidays. Perform any duty as deemed necessary for the success of the department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must be proficient in computers and Microsoft office suit Good problem solving and excellent laboratory skills Bachelor’s degree or technical degree in a life science field desirable. Professional experience in a laboratory setting. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license. AALSO Water Quality certification is preferred. Must be able to work second shift 2 to 11
