Job DescriptionIntroduction:

The Floater/Water Spider on the PAT line is an essential contributor to the sustainable success of the line. As a Floater/Water Spider, High Energy, Multi-Tasking, and Problem-Solving Skills are required. Below is an explanation of the primary role and expectations about the position:

Primary Role and ExpectationsSafety:

As with all MBCI team members, the expectation for the Floater/Water Spider is that he/she will always set a positive example for other team members. As part of Junior Leadership, the Floater/Water Spider will assist the TL/Supervisor in monitoring other team members for adherence to the MBCI Safety Policies and Procedures. Floaters and Water Spiders will always wear proper PPE while conducting their job functions: Bump Caps and reflective Safety Vest/straps are required in the picking aisles. Safety Glasses, Earplugs, and Steel Toe Shoes are always required while on the floor. Gloves are always required when auditing, and handling material. Gloves should never be cut at the fingertips. 

Quality:

As with all MBCI team members, the expectation for the Floater/Water Spider is he or she will always adhere to the picking SOS. They will monitor other team members for adherence to quality policies and practices. Floaters/ Water Spiders should correct the TMs on the quality issues and communicate to the TL/Supervisor any quality issues that are observed.

Floaters/Water Spiders will ensure to inspect picked material on carts as audits are being conducted and replace any defects caught. Floaters/Water Spiders are required to identify miss picks, empties, and damaged parts in the IPAD to ensure proper accountability.

Floaters/Water Spiders are required to verify the cart sequence. 

Productivity:

The primary objective of the Floater/Water Spider is to ensure the correct material(s) are available to the line team member at the point of use. To support this objective, the Floater/Water Spider is expected to complete the following activities Efficiently and in a

Timely Manner:

As a critical function, the Floater/Water Spider will ensure the accuracy of the materials delivered to the Line by performing regular picked cart audits before the material cart is utilized by the Line TM’s.

The Floater/Water Spider will position and move material carts to or from the designated workstations needed in a regular cadence supportive of the takt time and order mix in operation.

The Floater/Water Spider will Pick replacement parts as necessary for picking related fallout part replacement due to picking related quality issues or missing WIP Material, when necessaryAll picking-related fallout cabinets are required to be picked and processed before the next incoming shift comes inFloater/Water Spider will return all excess material to the correct WIP location throughout the shift and before the next shift takes over the line.

The Floater/Water Spider will Communicate with the Picking TL/Supervisor all picking-related non-conformities (excessive miss picks, picking damaged material, etc.), and monitor for correction before adverse impact to the line team member at the point of use. (

NOTE:

Floaters/Water Spiders are required to properly annotate miss picks on the IPAD for accountability purposes.) At the request of the Picking Supervisor per the Picking SOS, the Floater/Water Spider will support the picking team by picking needed material carts when the picking team is too far behind (in Red Status). Additional functions/expectations: Floaters/Water spiders should always be aware of the status of their line and know when to escalate issues to TL/Supervisor. Floaters/Water spiders are responsible for 100% audit of carts on their line and should be able to plan and prevent downtime on the line due to picking-related issues.
