This position is open only to current NC Department of Labor employees. This position is designated as Exempt Managerial. The selected candidate will be required to submit a statement of economic interest to the NC Ethics Commission for evaluation prior to actual employment.

Eastern Area B Position will provide supervision, instruction, and administrative assistance to the field elevator inspectors for the inspection of elevators, escalators, amusement devices, and related equipment. Position will assist in the training of new elevator inspectors and provide documented performance evaluations on the inspectors supervised by this position. Position will monitor daily activity of field elevator inspectors to ensure all required duties are followed and performed correctly. Position will provide technical evaluation and interpretation of all codes and regulations enforced by the Bureau. Position will provide interpretative evaluation for elevator contractors, building owners, and owner representatives. Position will evaluate field elevator inspectors for accuracy and ability to follow procedures when conducting accident investigations involving elevator and amusement devices and related equipment. Position will report to the Assistant Bureau Chief of the Elevator and Amusement Device Bureau. •Position is a field-base teleworker position. •Must have valid Driver’s License. Selected candidate must reside one of the counties listed or relocate within 30 days of hire date: Bertie, Beaufort, Bladen, Brunswick, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Harnett, Hertford, Hyde, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Pitt, Robeson, Sampson, Tyrell, Washington, Wayne, and Wilson. Demonstrated advanced knowledge regarding the construction, maintenance, and operation of elevators, escalators, amusement devices and related equipment. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the specifications codes and Bureau procedures needed to ensure the accuracy and dynamic operations of the equipment being inspected. Demonstrated thorough understanding of all state regulations and national safety codes related to the equipment regulated by the Bureau. Applicants must meet certification requirement in the amusement device inspector’s apprenticeship certification program.
