JobDescriptionAlbemarle is hiring for a Quality Director in Charlotte,NC. This position will be hybrid. In this role lead Albemarle’sQuality team providing global inspection technical support forCapital Projects along with its Manufacturing & R D facilities.
The candidate is accountable for developing, implementing, andproviding specialized support to establish and maintain a QualityManagement System ensuring that the organization’s project andmaintenance teams maintain compliance with all Albemarlespecifications, standards, and drawings as well as Industry codes &standards, and site-specific jurisdictional requirements.
What youwill do
Responsibilities:
Leads in HSSE and strives to achieve zero recordables. Participates in HSSE reviews, permit audits, and housekeepinginspections. Drives Albemarle’s safety focus striving for a safe shop andsite inspection culture. Displays and champions the Albemarle Core Values on the projectand maintenance team. Consult extensively with internal and external project andmaintenance team members, with a high degree of reliance placed onscientific interpretation and recommendation. Champions inspection best practices as it pertains to qualityrelated activities. Develops and maintains Corporate and Site Inspection forms andstandard operating procedures. Develops Risk Based Inspection methodologies for thecorporation and champion its global implementation. Develops QA/QC process to ensure equipment procured meetstechnical requirements. Conducts fabrication shop audits and certify them for inclusionto the Approved Manufacturers List. Conducts annual audits at each production facility to includereviews of QC manuals, Inspection specific SOP’s, jurisdictionalcompliance including the National Board Code Repair Program, andverifying that RAGAGEP’s are incorporated. Leads the development of a global network of competent andexperienced SQS for Inspection Test Plan (ITP) adherence andsurveillance requirements. Manages Source Quality Surveillance (SQS) services to supportshop/office inspection activities. Effectively advises the capital project management teams onapplicable technology and innovation in the field of qualitymanagement. Implements latest nondestructive testing techniques as well astechnologies applicable to inspection of piping and equipment. Provides direct and indirect quality technical supportresources (coverage, planning, evaluation) to sites for projects,turnarounds, and outages. Oversees supplier/vendor quality programs and theirimplementation in relation to meet the equipment purchase order,project objectives & requirements, and Albemarle requirements. Collaborates with project managers and engineers across alldisciplines to ensure proper quality protocols are established andmonitored throughout the project stages with the proper qualityresource and budget. Provides technical support to Project and Maintenance Engineersregarding selection of vendors for fabrication of new equipmentand/or the repair/modification of existing equipment. Travels (50%) to Manufacturing Sites, Engineering/Design Firms,and Supplier/Vendor Shops.
Accountabilities:
Requires suppliers/vendors to incorporate ITP requirements intoa project schedule to appropriately monitor the progress ofequipment fabrication. Addresses and resolves Nonconformance reports (NCRs) prior toowner acceptance. Supports inspection to the Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM) during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site AcceptanceTesting (SAT) generating inspection reports to document the testresults. Ensures criticality rating for engineered equipment aredetermined. Establishes Equipment Inspection Plans for criticalequipment. Addresses and resolves Inspection reports and concernsidentified with project managers and site maintenance team. Provides quality technical support for Request for Quotation(RFQ) and Purchase Orders to ensure the selection process ofsupplier/vendors identified are qualified to bid, QualityInspection Plan (QIP) represents all the requirements detailed onthe Equipment Data Sheet, and the assigned level of sourceinspection meets the equipment criticality ranking. Ensures all quality records are completed and transmitted inaccordance with the project QA specifications. Incorporates lessons learned from previous capital projectsinto the continuous improvement of the Quality ManagementSystem.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, orChemical Engineering or Engineering Technology Minimum fifteen (15) years of verifiable experience of QA/QCprocesses in a petrochemical or similar industrial environment Minimum of five (5) years working as a QA/QC lead in apetrochemical or industrial manufacturing environment withprogressive demonstration of experience on executing QA/QCactivities as a coordinator to include shop and fieldinspections Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with theability to communicate with senior level leadership within anorganization. Highly motivated with the ability to inspire and drive resultsthrough teamwork with all levels of the organization. Detail oriented with high standards for accuracy andcompleteness. Proven ability in problem solving and multi-tasking. Experience with major EPC(CM) contractors and owner projectteams. Knowledge of the latest applicable codes, regulations, and bestpractices related to fabrication and construction, including butnot limited to: ISO, API, ASME, NBIC, AWS, NACE, NFPA, PIP, GBcodes, and NEC Extensive knowledge of ASME Section IX on the review andapproval of WPS, PQR, and WPQ’s Extensive knowledge of ASME Section V on the review andacceptance of Non-Destructive Examinations to include VT, PT, UTT,PAUT, MT, and RT Interpretation Experience in the review of Material Test Reports (MTRs) andverification of materials against the MTRs. Experience working with engineered documents to include PFD’s,P&ID’s, Civil/Structural plans and details, Piping Isometrics,etc. Experience in dimensional verification of fixed equipment asspecified on the fabrication drawings. Works effectively within a project stage-gate systemenvironment including essential success factors for early phase andexecution projects especially at it pertains to engineeredequipment procurement and inspections. Demonstrated knowledge of the ability to read, understand, andmodify or develop Inspection and Test plans for multiple types ofequipment. Excellent computer skills – Microsoft SharePoint Online, OfficeSuite (Word, Excel, etc.), TEAMS, Experience in the fabrication of reactive metals (Titanium andZirconium) and refractory metals (Tantalum and Niobium) is highlydesired. Experience in the fabrication of nonmetallic materials ofconstruction to include FRP, Dual Laminates and Lined Piping ishighly desired. Preferred experience and/or certification in thefollowing: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector API 570 Piping Inspector
