The MFC provides expert management, protection, and information needed to keep Mississippi’s approximately 19.2 million acres of forestland healthy, productive, and prosperous. For additional information contact Brooke Hanna, Human Resource Director, shanna@mfc.ms.gov About the Position This position is with the MS Forestry Commission and is responsible for Area 46, which consists of George, Harrison, Jackson, and Stone Counties. Incumbent will report to the Area Forester over Area 46. This is a first-level vocational Forestry position accountable for protecting, reforesting, and inventorying timberlands in accordance with Mississippi Forestry Commission regulations on private and public lands. Jobs at this level collaborate with federal agencies on forest land designations and critical area layouts and contact landowners giving advice on proper forestry management practices such as tree planting, timber stand improvement, and establishment of fire lanes. May be responsible for assisting a forest fire suppression crew. What you’ll need to be

  • Agency Preferred Qualifications:

    An Associate’s Degree in Forestry and 0-2 years of experience.

  • New Hires must either have their Commercial Driver’s License or obtain a CDL within the first year of employment and pass a fitness test (Pack) within 90 days of employment.
