Responsibilities:

Assist the company forester(s) with the overall vegetation management in an assigned territory. Patrol and inspect electric utility right-of-way in order to determine appropriate management activities. Assist in the investigation of property owner and customer concerns. Assist in the monitoring of all vegetation management activities for contract compliance. Assist with storm restoration or other emergency situations as directed by client. Under direction, communicate work to be performed to the vegetation contractors. Assist with random observations/inspections of vegetation crews for the purpose of observing and documenting work practices specifically related to safety compliance. Conduct inspections of completed vegetation management work in order to ensure compliance to applicable guidelines and/or standards for vegetation clearances and work quality including follow-up entry of inspection data on applicable forms and in applicable computer systems. Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Arboriculture, or a related field or equivalent education and/or experience as follows: Associate degree in one of the same fields and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in utility vegetation management. High school diploma with a minimum of six (6) years as a forester or other related position in the utility industry. 1-2 years satisfactory performance as a CUF (or equivalent) required for higher tier levels. Actively pursue appropriate pesticide use certifications/licensing as required in the work jurisdiction; possession of appropriate pesticide use certifications/licensing preferred. Actively pursue ISA arborist certification; possession of ISA arborist certification preferred ISA Utility Specialist certification preferred Experience in Forestry, Arboriculture, or Horticulture a plus Must possess tree identification skills and the ability to read maps Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving capabilities, the ability to multi-task, and attention to detail Positive attitude/neat professional appearance. Able to work outside in a safe, productive manner in all weather conditions. Self-motivated and efficient. Work effectively and professionally with people. Demonstrates initiative and proactively looks for ways to perform work in the most effective manner and the ability to work safely and efficiently with minimal oversight. Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain Must be skilled with technology and possess basic computer and smart phone skills Ability to travel and stay overnight. Physical Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment: walk, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties; carry, push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (5 to 10 lbs.); operate assigned equipment and vehicles; verbally communicate to exchange information with public; see and hear in normal range with or without correction; operate assigned field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
