Job Summary and Qualifications The Child Life Specialist will support and assist children and their families through the emotional and physical aspects of hospitalization. Provides education, prepare and support children through difficult tests, procedures and sometimes drastic changes that happen within their families due to chronic illness, treatment and recovery. What you will do in this role: Work with ill or injured children, adolescents and their families to ease the anxiety and stress that comes with hospitalization. Ease the trauma of hospitalization by providing interaction, play and relaxation. Develop and implement activities such as art, cooking, recreation and play to comfort the patient. Develop and evaluate treatment plans for children. Help children understand medical care, diagnosis and procedures. Accompany children through medical procedures. Educate family and staff on techniques. This role covers the Neonatal ICU and pediatric ER.

What qualifications you will need:

Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life Specialist Program One year previous experience as Child Life Specialist or completion of internship program in an acute care facility. Certified Child Life Specialist by Child Life Council. Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to read/comprehensive written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills. Ability to adjust language and demeanor to the developmental and emotional state of a child.
