Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team as a Cemetery Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of cemetery operations, managing staff, and ensuring the cemetery is well-maintained and provides compassionate service to families and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:

Work with the company’s leaders to develop annual business plan and budget as well as financial, production and revenue goals. Accountable for monitoring and achieving annual financial goals. Approve expenditures and invoices including overtime.

Operations:
  • Coordinate with funeral directors, families, and vendors to schedule burial services and ensure all arrangements are handled with care and professionalism.
  • Coordinate with grounds crew to ensure cemetery grounds are well-maintained.
  • Maintain accurate records of interments, lot sales, and other cemetery activities.
  • Ensure compliance with cemetery regulations, local ordinances, and industry standards.
  • Plan and coordinate special events and ceremonies held at the cemetery.
  • Manage the cemetery budget and financial records, including processing payments and tracking expenses.
  • Oversee maintenance of cemetery grounds, including landscaping, grave markers, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure the maintenance of buildings, facilities, and grounds are clean, manicured, and working order, budgeting appropriately for repairs including equipment and furniture.
People Development:

Develop a strong, trusting, and reliable team. Understand team members’ career aspirations and provide assignments to develop skills and or close gaps. Monitor training and licensing requirements, ensuring staff is re-trained/licensed prior to expiration. Responsible for screening candidates, hiring and promoting staff, performance reviews, developmental plans and terminations. Collaborate with Human Resources and Operations for recruiting and retention. Other Participate in community, civic, or other organizations as a part of the local promotional efforts of the location and the Company. Develop and or implement plans to improve customer satisfaction index and on-line community reviews. Experience Minimum five (5) years industry experience in the applicable discipline with progressively increased responsibilities Minimum (2) years of experience managing people or projects Budgeting and expense control experience strongly preferred

Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cemetery management or a managerial role is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Nexus, Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Knowledge of cemetery operations, burial procedures, and regulations.
