07/07/2025 $27.70 to $30.47 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Palm Bay. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Performs skilled crafts and trades work supervising activities and crews involved in the development, construction, repair and maintenance of roads, streets, highways, parking lots, impoundment areas, and landfills. Supervises work crews.
REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the construction, repair and/or maintenance of public works projects related to the area of assignment. Must have experience planning, prioritizing, and supervising the work of staff responsible for landscape maintenance of roadway medians and rights of ways, stormwater ponds, and other areas of assignment. Must have experience in preparing roads for resurfacing and reconstruction, pothole and utility cut repairs, installing drainage culverts and end treatments, and replacing sidewalk panels. Must be skilled and experience in managing Public Works type of projects such as road and drainage improvement projects that include estimating labor, equipment, and materials; scheduling work; and supervising crews and contractors to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) specifications, Federal Americans with Disabilities Act, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP, St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), and Brevard County Code of Ordinances. Must be skilled in documenting all work, including investigating citizen-driven complaints and concerns and developing an action plan to resolve them. Must have experience documenting work through a work management and service request system. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment. This is moderate physical work performed outdoors and indoors that involves exposure to fumes, dirt, dust, noise, moving machinery, odors, traffic, and extreme weather conditions. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed. Employer
