Summary:
This position will be responsible for supervising the Grounds keeping crew, ensuring campus grounds are well-maintained and safe, and overseeing operations like landscaping, irrigation, and waste disposal, while also managing staff and projects.
Job Description:
Essential duties and responsibilities
Implement directions from Grounds Manager directly to Grounds Staff.
Responsible for doing grounds work, irrigation, and trash work as needed.
Ability to oversee the grounds crew.
Approve timecards by deadline and approve vacation/sick time requests.
Allocate grounds crew as needed around campus and per manager’s instructions.
Ensure tasks and projects are completed in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure campus grounds are well-maintained.
Report difficulties or problems to Manager daily.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Mechanical knowledge of two-cycle and four-cycle equipment and ability to operate all.
Ability to speak and communicate effectively in English and Haitian Creole/Patois.
Horticulture knowledge preferred.
Minimum qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
At least 5 years work experience in the landscape industry preferred.
At least 3 years experience overseeing and managing a grounds crew preferred.
