Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Landscape Installation Foreman to lead crews in the installation of high-quality residential landscaping projects. This role is responsible for overseeing landscape installations at new construction sites from the ground up and at homes with pre-existing landscaping that request enhancement projects. This role would also be required to operate equipment utilized for placement of trees and plant material during installation, such as skid steers and tractors. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, equipment skills, and the ability to manage a team in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Supervision:
- Communicate effectively with project managers and clients as needed regarding installation progress, issues, or changes.
- Read and interpret landscape plans and ensure installation aligns with project specifications.
- Conduct site inspections throughout the day to ensure installation meets design specs and quality standards while adhering to project timelines and productivity targets. Maintain accurate documentation of site activities, deliveries, and change orders.
- Lead and manage installation crews on residential job sites, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety. Identify and resolve issues on-site, as required.
- Lead job site setup and breakdown, ensuring all tools, materials, and equipment are accounted for and staged properly.
- Coordinate material deliveries and ensure accurate quantities of soil, compost, mulch, and finishes are available and used efficiently.
- Enforce safety compliance for all crew members and maintain a clean, organized worksite.
Plant & Material Installation:
- Coordinate the installation of all landscape elements, including grading, drainage, soil preparation, planting (trees, shrubs, and perennials), turf/sod, mulch, finishes, and irrigation. Troubleshoot installation challenges, as required.
- Inspect plant material for quality and health upon delivery and prior to installation. Supervise and participate in the layout of plant material according to design plans and spacing guidelines.
- Ensure proper care, handling, and installation techniques for all plant materials, including correct planting depth, orientation, backfilling, mulching, and watering procedures are followed for plant health. Instruct and oversee crew members on proper techniques.
- Implement and maintain temporary irrigation (as needed) for plant establishment on newly installed projects.
Equipment Operation:
- Safely and proficiently operate skid steers, compact track loaders, tractors, and other landscape machinery to support all phases of installation.
- Transport and place materials such as trees, plants, soil, mulch, and finishes using loaders or buckets.
- Maneuver equipment in tight residential spaces while avoiding damage to structures, plantings, and utilities.
- Perform daily maintenance checks and ensure proper care and storage of all equipment.
Qualifications Experience:
5+ years of landscape installation experience, with at least 3+ years in a supervisory or foreman role.
Skills:
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
Knowledge :
Proficient in reading and interpreting landscape design plans, strong knowledge of plant materials, soils, and installation techniques. Experience operating skid steers, tractors, and similar heavy equipment. Familiarity with and ability to manage most varieties of turf, working knowledge of irrigation systems, understanding of pest control issues/remediation.
Driver’s License:
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) with a clean record required. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor, as needed. Regular travel between customer properties.
