- 32 Weeks (Approximately 03/16/2025 to 10/25/2025) The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Bureau of Parks and Lands Division, is recruiting to fill a Full Time Seasonal (32 Weeks) Park Manager I position, located at Quoddy Head Light State Park.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
This is maintenance and personal services work supervising the operations and maintenance of Quoddy Head Light State Park. Quoddy Head Light is a day use park featuring a historic lighthouse, a rocky shoreline, hiking trails, and outhouse facilities.
Primary duties include:
managing all park operations including supervising one park staff; developing community relations; supervising and performing park maintenance; providing park interpretation and promoting the park in the community; performing park administration; supervising park protection and enforcement; managing emergency planning and response; supervising and providing staff training; recruiting and hiring park employees; enforcing rules and regulations; reporting income and use statistics; overseeing cash handling procedures, all customer transactions, making deposits and doing deposit slip reports; overseeing an operational and maintenance budget. The person in this position will be trained and certified in First Aid, CPR, rule compliance, and chain saw operation as a requirement of this position. The person in this position must be able to safely and efficiently operate a range of equipment including vehicles, tractors, mowers, chainsaws, and other power and hand tools. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An Associate’s Degree in Recreation Management or a related field. Directly related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. For the purposes of this classification, a year is defined as being the equivalent of a 25-week or more season.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
(These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class): Valid Class C Maine motor vehicle operator’s license. The following general information pertains to seasonal employment at
Maine State Parks:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older (Lifeguards must be 16 or older)
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or have legal authority to work in the U.S.
Housing is provided in the Penobscot River Corridor and the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.
In general, housing is not available at the other parks.
Most positions are scheduled to work 40 hours each week, with weekends and some holidays required. Parks seasonal positions are required to wear uniforms which are provided by the agency.
