Start your journey towards success! We are currently accepting applications for a Grounds Worker I at NC National Guard of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities of Position:
This is skilled work in the planting, cultivation, and care of shrubs, trees, plants, and grass in yard and surrounding areas of state buildings and institutions. Work is performed in accordance with instructions from a Grounds Supervisor; however, this employee must determine the care and treatment necessary to maintain grounds and shrubs in good condition. Non-routine problems concerning selection, placement, care, and treatment of plants and grass to ensure a beautiful and orderly landscape are referred to a supervisor or nursery dealer for advice. Work may include the supervision of a small number of employees. Work is inspected and evaluated on the basis of appearance of the grounds. Will operate and maintain, tractors and mowers, with attachments, to include specialty mowers, backpack air blowers, weed eaters, shrubbery tools, and other related tools. Will assist and participate, and/or supervise projects/tasks assigned to grounds, which includes, but not limited to, filling potholes, clearing out gutters, installing/removing parking signage, picking up grounds trash, and clearing sidewalks during winter storms. KSAs:
Demonstrated experience of grass, turf, and plant maintenance procedures. Demonstrated experience in grounds maintenance. Demonstrated experience working/repairing power equipment such as mowers, trimmers, or tractors. Other License or Certifications Required for position: Per 5 CFR 731 , upon appointment, applicant must be able to obtain a favorable suitability and fitness determination from a Tier 1 background investigation conducted by the Office of Personnel Management. Failure to obtain a favorable determination may result in termination of employment.
