Assistant Golf Course Superintendent The Architects Golf Club 700 Strykers Rd, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 Job description The Architects Golf Club is excited to announce the exceptional career opportunity of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The responsibilities include:
turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, scheduling/maintenance or irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance of regulatory issues. The Assistant Superintendent works to create an environment where staff is involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, guests and the property. Key responsibilities of the
Assistant Superintendent:
Perform a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of golf course buildings and grounds. Using excellent customer service skills establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees. Supervise the third Assistant Superintendent, maintenance workers, mechanics, and part-time employees, as required. Manages and supervises assigned operations to achieve goals within available resources. Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments. Coordinate with Pro Shop staff to coordinate tournaments, special requests and banquets. Communicate official plans, policies, and procedures to staff in assigned area of responsibility. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites work flow; studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances; Provide necessary supervision, direction, and assistance to crews at work sites. Enforce policies, regulations, and safety and health standards. Determines, calculates, and secures the appropriate materials and supplies for a specific project. Assure that tools and equipment are properly maintained and kept in proper working condition. Oversee and assist in the robotic mowing and maintenance of golf course fairways, rough, greens, tee area, and other open space areas; oversees and assists in the maintenance of sprinkler systems and the repair and installation of sprinkler lines and heads. Oversee the seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering, and the pest and weed control of the golf course. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position. Required to keep fuel logs and ensure fuel pump is locked up and secure at all time Manages an aggressive water usage tracking plan and irrigation systems and provides monthly reporting on retaining ponds, wells and other water source usage. Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions. Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the Maintains records and completes required reporting. Order parts, supplies and equipment as needed. Schedules maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to guests. Coordinates snow removal and winter maintenance.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
Knowledge of management and maintenance of sand based bent grass greens & fairways. Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work. Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products. Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules and methods of play. Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments. Ability and knowledge to lay out irrigation patterns, drainage patterns, construct tees and/or greens.
