Parks and Public Grounds Supervisor- Special Events (Salary commensurate with experience) 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582 JOB Under limited supervision provides leadership and direction for specifically assigned, subordinate crewmembers in the maintenance of city properties, public grounds, and Parks and Recreation facilities and amenities. Coordinates, oversees, and participates in construction, repair, maintenance, and pest control activities.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Education:

High school diploma or

GEDExperience:

Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in grounds maintenance, management, or construction

Certifications:

SC Commercial Driver’s License – Class A.Extensive knowledge of electricity and electrical circuits.

Extensive knowledge of field preparation and tournament expectations for softball, baseball, football, soccer, lacrosse, and other competitive athletic fields. Experience and knowledge in operation of Telehandler and man-lift. Certified in same when available

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Primary areas of responsibility include preparation for, operation of, dismantling of, and storage and care of facilities and equipment associated with sports tourism events and tournaments, festivals, concerts, the Great Christmas Light Show, and other non-routine or special events.

Assigns supplementary work to event staff between event needs for most efficient utilization of available labor.

Maintains and installs Great Christmas Light Show fixtures and infrastructure. Contributes to and suggests design for same.

Meets with event organizers as necessary to understand needs and expectations. Participates in post-event evaluations identifying problem areas and suggesting solutions for better future events preparation Ensures preparation of athletic fields according to schedules set by the Athletic and Sports Tourism Division. Makes recommendations to Athletics and Sports Tourism staff with regard to post-inclement weather field playability and detrimental effects of over correction. Specifies, assigns, monitors, and approves payment for maintenance, repair, and creative contracts. Advises and communicates expectations and approves contractor performance and payment requests.

Ensures routine inspections and maintenance of fixtures, equipment, and tools are carried out as scheduled and that substandard conditions are remedied in a timely fashion.
